If Not Now, Then When?
Tracy Chapman sang it - "If not now, then when?"
Hundreds, If not thousands of websites and blogs offer crusises, beach adventurs, hiking & biking in far away lands, where you will likely be treated like a tourist - because you are one! Some of us are looking for a new angle, suggestion or direction.
Consider traveling for Wellness, at a destination devoted to your good health. Whether it's soaking in the Mineral Springs in Iceland, Malaysia or Turkey, or daily massages in Thailand or Bali, we're suggesting you keep your health in mind when making travel plans for yourself or your tribe. Who knows how long it will take Obamacare to straighten out and fly right? Meantime, there's not much dental coverage anywhere in the world. And, let's not forget the price of glasses, or corrective lasik surgery.
CUBA - We're all in favor of re-establishing our ties with Cuba. 50 years is enough. Someday, the U.S. will join Canadians, as well as the rest of the world, to see what we've been missing. We recommend Marimar Travel. They've been arranging legal, cultural travel to Cuba for almost 15 years. If you are interested in things like the Jazz Festival, Ballet, Art, or Cigars, let us know, and we will arrange it through. www.MarimarTravel.com We've just heard about healing mineral waters in Cuba and will be reporting on what we discover in stories and photos.
THAILAND - Is waiting to welcome you back to the, "Land of Smiles" & Wellness. Eye exams are free in Thailand, and frames and lenses are much less expensive. Worried about the cost for dental work? Yanhee Hospital in Bangkok is our only recommendation.
Tijuana, MEXICO - Get yourself some teeth in Tijuana. On your way to, or back from the waters in Carlsbad, CA just 40 miles north of San Diego, where you can catch the RED, Tijuana Trolly to the Mexican Border and walk right in. Just make sure you pack your passport. You'll need to get back into the U.S.
My Mom often reminded me that we are responsible for our own health care. After what I've seen in my travels, there is a lot of integrated healthcare practiced all over the world - except for the US. I dream about the notion of One Healthcare World Wide.
Althoug healing waters are all over the world, I've recently began following the path of the conquering Romans, and the communal spring baths they built along the way where they either cured themselves - or were buried.
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - The Roman Army, led by Julius Ceasar himself made himself at home in the Amsterdam region from 57BC-53BC. Today it remains a fascinating city and the surrounding area is well known for it 's Mineral Baths.
BATH, ENGLAND & The WELSH Coast - A truly a magical destination for the Christmas Holidays is Bath, England, where you can soak in the ancient,(recently remodeled) Royal Roman Baths, before shopping, and finish the day with a fine meal in one of the most charaming villages imaginable.
TENBY, England was once known for it's Bathouse and healing waters.
CORNWALL - On my way to Penzance, I discovered a unique swimming pool, set on the ocean that's worth visiting.
ICELAND - Last winter, the weather in Iceland was warmer than New York. Icelandic Air has some incedible deals for all of Scandanavia. All flights stop in Iceland, so you can extend your travels to include a few days in Iceland, without additional cost. Public Pools are everywhere in Iceland. Casual soakiing is offered all day every day and into the night in Reykjavik. What a wonderful, inexpensive, opprtunity to, "Soak with the Natives," after exploring the natural geysers that blow all over this magical terrain. The "old geysers" on tour were too hot to soak in, but I've been told that people who rent cars find friendly geysers that are doable. Northern Lights TIP: Unless you get seasick, book a tour out on the water to find the Northern Lights. I forgot about that and impulsively joined at least another 10 very big tourist busses for the experience. It was cold out there and crowded with people and their photography equipment. The food and drinks were expectedly over-priced, and the ques were endless.
TURKEY - Along with an endlesslessly fascinating cultural heritage, Turkey recently redesigned Pumulkala, a wellness destination since Roman times. Turkey today possesses more Roman ruins than Italy and more JCI approved Hospitals than almost anywhere else in the world.
Expect more on Turkey. Meantime, if you are interested in combining healthcare with your trip, we've partnered with: www.GetHealthyInTurkey.com
MALAYSIA - Is lovely; many natural springs at wellness retreats as well as the finest, JCI approved hospitals. Thanks to a British invasion, you can expect to hear locals speak English in Malaysia.
BALI - Paradise. (See our home page).
